This Is The Post About My Trip To NYC

I really can't believe I didn't get a single picture of falafel or cheesecake while I was in New York. The food is absolutely the second-best thing about that city - the first-best being, of course, these people:

Sara. Many a-person has lost both life and limb after falling for her innocent act. Do not be fooled.

Laura. Beautiful and heartless, she surrounds herself with others of her kind.

Sarah. Eats people alive.

You guys, my friends are kind of terrifying.

I stayed with Sara in Washington Heights.

When she wasn't working or in class, this is pretty much what we were doing:

I also went to a meditation workshop,

and found the Playground of the Americas. Impressive, I know.

I'm a terrible tourist. But I had a GREAT time.

And then I came home, applied to massage therapy school and got accepted, so I'm moving to New York in less than two months. Back across the country. Again. I wonder if there are really states in the middle, or if that's just a myth...

There is NOTHING between New York and California.

Don't let people try and fool you.

Also, did you notice how awesome my hands look in that photo? Cause I certainly did.

What?? You're going to massage therapy school?? You want to be Phoebe!! She is so cool! Now I don't have to be jealous of you knowing adia so well any more...
Really, could you GO any further away? Seriously -

Wow, congrats on massage school and I guess I'll have to finally get up to Bellingham soon.

If you have the time I recommend taking the train across to New York. At the very least it should convince you that there is stuff between the two places (not, mind you, that I am sure that's a worthwhile goal), also it is more fun and they let you take like three times as much baggage and there might be Amish.

Aww, Rachel, don't remind me that my fellow Northworth Ellswest is leaving. For a good cause and all, don't get me wrong. Because Rebecca needs to be a masseuse. She owes me for all those free ones I gave her over the years.

Okay, looks like I need to move to the east coast, too. Just because we deserve to at least be in the same time zone FOR ONCE.

I wonder how play ground of the Americas compares to Playground of the Europe. Also is this combining North and South America?

Sara: I have never seen your hands looking anything but amazing. Your hands are what other hands aspire to be.

Raych: I'm going to get me an awesome career and live in New York for a while. Don't pretend you're not jealous.

Sabayon: I didn't even think about the train! But now I am...is it Amtrak, or what? Have you done it?

Spencer: It would take me less than half an hour to pay you back for all those 30-second backrubs you gave me. Come visit me in NYC!

Shel: At least we got to hang in CA! I get to practice on my friends (who are all super hot) and the other students in massage school.

canihelpyousir: I'm in favor of that. I think we deserve to be within weekend-visiting distance.

Chrissy: Good questions. Perhaps you should research this and post about it. The world NEEDS to know.

I went from Texas to Pittsburgh by train which is a bit shorter of a trip but not much. It will probably take about four days, but (and I may just think this because I really hate flying) it's way more fun and WAY more comfortable than going by plane, generally no longer any cheaper though. The only downside (besides the whole four days thing, remember to pack lots of snack foods and novels) is that your train will not be, even remotely, on time. Generally another disadvantage is that you have to go through Chicago no matter what (like one time I wanted to go from Houston to New Orleans and this involved a three day trip through Chicago and DC), but from Washington to New York Chicago is a completely rational transfer point, also the train station is downtown so you can go do some pretty cool shit during your layover. Also they let you bring 250 lbs of baggage, which is insane and awesome.

Gaaaah! New York! How I miss it!!! That week seems soooo long ago. I can't wait til we have another. And then I won't be saving for an imminent journey so I can be far less of a cheapskate and I swear to you, I will go to Starbucks every damn day. Because I want to. And here in Antigua, Guatemala, I drink coffee every day. Two cups! By the time I go through Colombia I may be up to 4! Someone stop me!

Sabayon: Hm, I will look into it. I like the baggage allowance, but I'm kind of in favor of quick travel when I'm by myself.

Laura (I know that's you): I CANNOT wait to hang out with you again! Coffee and cheesecake in NYC - mark your calendar!
